We’ve compiled answers to our most common questions. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, please contact our support team.

Top Questions (General)

What is the main advantage of laser welding over traditional methods like TIG or MIG?

Our laser welders offer much higher precision and welding speeds (up to 4-10x faster than TIG). They also create a very small heat-affected zone (HAZ), which prevents warping and distortion on thin materials.

Yes, our laser welders are very safe to operate when all safety protocols are followed. The primary requirement is that the operator must always wear the specific laser safety glasses we provide, as the laser light can be harmful to the eyes.

We provide comprehensive after-sales support for every machine. Your purchase includes a detailed user manual, and we also create a dedicated one-on-one support group specifically for you. Our technicians are in this group to provide permanent (lifetime) guidance and technical support to assist with any questions.

All our laser welding machines come with a comprehensive 1-year warranty. The core component, the fiber laser source, is covered by its own 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Yes, many of our laser welders are capable of welding dissimilar metals, such as stainless steel to copper. However, success depends on the specific materials, so we recommend contacting our technical team to discuss your exact application.

Purchasing & Support

How do I get a price quote for a machine?

You can get a detailed quote by filling out the “Get a Quote” form on any product page or by contacting our sales team directly at +86-15107552339 or [email protected]. We will respond quickly to discuss your application and provide pricing.

Yes, we partner with specialized equipment financing companies to offer flexible payment options for qualified businesses. Please contact our sales team, and we can guide you through the application process.

Our lead times vary by machine model and configuration. Standard, in-stock machines typically ship within 3-7 business days. Customized machines may require additional time, generally around 2 weeks. We will provide a firm shipping date when you receive your final quote.

Our laser welders require very minimal maintenance. The most common tasks involve regularly cleaning the protective lens, replacing consumable nozzles as needed, and ensuring the water chiller (if equipped) has clean, distilled water. A full maintenance schedule is in the user manual.

We include a starter set of 5 complimentary protective lenses with your machine. If you have used these and need to order more, or if you need other consumables like nozzles, please contact our support team directly. We will assist you with the order and ship the new parts to you immediately.

Jewelry Laser Welders

Can I laser weld near heat-sensitive stones like emeralds or pearls?

Yes, you can. This is a primary advantage of laser welding. The heat is so localized (a very small heat-affected zone) that you can safely weld prongs and settings right next to stones without damaging them, which is often impossible with a traditional torch.

Yes, it is. While silver is a highly reflective material, our jewelry welders have specific power settings and pulse-shaping features designed to create a strong, clean weld on silver. The machine also works excellently on gold, platinum, and titanium.

No, not for every repair. For many jobs, like closing a jump ring or repairing a crack, you can fuse the existing metal together without any filler wire. You only need to use filler wire when you need to add new material, such as re-tipping a prong or filling a deep gouge.

A black or sooty weld is almost always caused by oxidation (the metal burning). To prevent this, you must use a steady stream of argon shielding gas directed at the weld spot. The argon gas displaces all the oxygen and protects the weld, resulting in a clean, bright, professional finish.

We recommend changing the water every 3 to 6 months to ensure optimal performance and prevent any buildup in the cooling system. You must use only distilled water or deionized water. Using tap water is forbidden as its minerals will clog the system and can damage the laser.

Handheld Laser Welders

How quickly can a new operator become proficient with a handheld laser welder?

Most new operators can achieve welding proficiency within less than an hour of basic training. The process is intuitive and much easier to master than traditional TIG or MIG welding, significantly reducing the learning curve for your team.

Our handheld welders excel at welding stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum. They can typically handle thicknesses from 0.5 mm up to 7 mm in a single pass. Welding highly reflective metals like pure copper or brass may require a higher-power model.

For butt joints with a tight fit-up (no gap), you can often perform a strong weld without any filler wire. For joints with a gap or those requiring reinforcement, the machine includes an automatic wire feeder to supply filler metal, creating a stronger, full weld.

Our popular 3-in-1 models provide valuable multi-functionality: Welding joins materials; the Cleaning function removes rust, paint, and oxides from surfaces before welding; and the Cutting function allows for simple, precise cutting of thin sheet metal (typically up to 2-3mm). However, the primary purpose of this machine is welding; the cleaning and cutting functions are designed for occasional use and not long-term, continuous production.

Weld spatter is usually caused by incorrect machine settings. The most common causes are setting the power level too high for the material, improper laser focus, or incorrect gas flow. Using the machine’s pre-set parameters for different materials can help eliminate spatter.

Laser Mold Repair Welders

What is a laser mold repair welding machine?

Yes, you can. This is a primary advantage of laser welding. The heat is so localized (a very small heat-affected zone) that you can safely weld prongs and settings right next to stones without damaging them, which is often impossible with a traditional torch.

The machine operates by delivering high-energy laser pulses onto the damaged area of a mold. This precisely melts both the mold material and a carefully selected welding wire, creating a strong, localized weld that repairs the surface without significantly heating the surrounding areas. The process is highly controlled, allowing for intricate repairs.

Using a laser mold repair welding machine offers several benefits, including high precision, minimal heat input (which prevents distortion of the mold), the ability to repair complex geometries, reduced repair time, and extended mold lifespan. This leads to cost savings by avoiding the need for new molds.

The cost of a laser mold repair welding machine typically varies significantly because these machines are often customized to specific industrial needs and applications. Therefore, a precise, fixed price usually cannot be provided without understanding your requirements. We recommend contacting our sales personnel for a detailed quotation tailored to your specific needs.

If you are uncertain whether your specific mold damage can be effectively repaired using our laser welding technology, we offer sample testing services. You can send us a sample of your damaged mold or a similar component, and our technicians will conduct a test repair to evaluate the feasibility and quality of the repair. This allows you to confirm the suitability of the machine for your application before making a commitment.

Laser Welder Robots

What materials can laser welding robots weld?

Laser welding robots can efficiently weld stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, titanium, copper, brass, and various alloys. The versatility of laser systems allows them to work with both thin and thick materials, from sheet metal as thin as 0.5mm to plates up to 10mm thick, depending on the laser power.

Laser welding robots are 2–6 times faster than traditional MIG and TIG welding methods. They can automate welding processes to reduce cycle times significantly—up to 90% reduction in welding time compared to manual TIG welding. Typical welding speeds range from 10 mm/s to 50 mm/s for thin materials like 1–3mm stainless steel or carbon steel

Laser welding robots achieve exceptional precision with repeatability as fine as ±0.03mm to ±0.05mm, depending on the robot model. This precision creates narrow, aesthetic seams with minimal heat-affected zones, reducing post-weld finishing work.

Maximum welding thickness depends on laser power: 1000W systems can weld up to 4mm, 1500W systems up to 6mm, and 2000W systems up to 8mm. With correct laser welding parameters, the resulting welds can match the strength of the base material.

Laser welding robots require regular maintenance including routine cleaning, optics inspection, alignment checks, and calibration. Annual maintenance costs typically range from $2,000 to $5,000 depending on robot type and usage intensity. For machines with higher price points, maintenance costs generally follow the standard industry formula of 2–5% of the machine’s initial purchase price per year.
